5:00 a.m., friday, july 21. we start with breaking news. a possible home invasion turns deadly. a man in a wheelchair is shot to death as children slept nearby. imagine getting from new york city to washington, d.c. in less than 30 minutes.

are a billionaire businessman says he is ready to break ground this year and have a stop in philadelphia. >> a heat warning is in effect, and there's no relief in sight for the weekend. >> karen is off, here's david and matt. >> reporter: let's take a look at the heat warning, matt. it's an excessive heat warning in effect until 8:00. at sometime in the afternoon, in the areas you ehighlighted basically in the center of the region. the heat index values could go from 100 to 105, so it's going to be a hot one out there. satellite showing you cloud cover getting ready to mix with the sun today. temperatures are off to a warm start. 80 in philadelphia. still low 70s in allentown and reading, 73 in trenton, 79 in wilmington, 76 in cape may. as we go through the day it will be hot, noon, 90.

94 at 3:00 p.m., 59 at 4:00 p.m., even as late as 7:00 p.m. we'll be holding on to 92 degrees. of course it will be very humid out there with the high heat index values. we have an air quality alert code orange across the region. if you're among the senior citizen population, anyone with heart and lung conditions limit your outdoor exposure between noon and 6. i'll have long term relief, but the weekend is hot. >> reporter: hopefully the construction crews get something iced to drink. they are clearing the eastbound lanes of the schuylkill expressway. both lanes are open as you head toward gladwyn and bellmont. east norton we're watching a crash along swede road and evergreen road. police and fire crews on the

scene. vine street expressway, westbound side they have cleared, eastbound they are in the process of clearing. ramp from the eastbound schuylkill expressway to the eastbound vine is blocked, but only a dplaf minutes on -- a couple of minutes on that. no issues on i-95, we have construction i-95 near 237 two left lanes blood clot for the next half-hour. 495 route 13 at dupont highway. two lanes are blocked there until further notice. if that stays out there through the morning commute it could cause delays an you along 495. >> this is breaking right now, a man in a wheelchair is gunned down, police think it is the deadly result of a home. the caregiver was chased down

and fired upon. katherine scott is at temple hospital where the caretaker was taken. there were witnesses taken to the homicide division to be interviewed. the 36-year-old man wasonounced. 51-year-old caretaker was taken to temple university hospital in stable condition. let's go to video from tiogacew. you can see the investigators on the scene investigating the double shooting and homicide. this happened on the 3300 block of north officers were called before midnight. when they arrived, the 51-year-old caretaker was lying on the street. the lying on the living room floor. he just returned home with his caretaker. the caretaker was helping the man up the steps into the front door when two men walked up and they had guns and forced open the front door. the man in the wheelchair was

struggling to keep the door closed, that's when they fired at him and striking him in the head. the caretaker took off southbound on gratts they opened fire on him and he was hit in the leg. police are looking for surveillance footage to see if they can find clues as to what t happened. >> this is a home invasion homicide, the shooters forced open the front door, struggled with a victim, who was in a wheelchair. the wheelchair bound victim was struggling to keep the door closed, but they overpowered him and they were able to shoot him in the head. >> reporter: there were people upstairs, one adult and four children. they didn't see anything, but they heard the commotion and heard the shooting, they did speak to police about what happened, but were not injured

in all this. >> police will return to malvern this morning to continue searching the home of a missing mother. who has not been seen in 3 months. state police detectives and forensic units showed up with a certain warrant. they didn't say what they were looking for or if there was foul play. her husband was hired and attorney and not spoken publicly about her appear -- disappearance. septa police body cams show what happened when they opened fire on a person this week. septa police say they want to be transparent about the shooting on wednesday. jose lebron shot at a woman he feels living with. he turned the gun on seven

confirmed tornado struck western new york. a home surveillance camera shows how it picked up a car off the driveway and sent debris flying down the street. no injuries were reported. an indiana couple said they were forced to pay $30,000 to bring their premature baby home from mexico. they were in cancun when she went into labor early. they charged them thousands of dollars. >> this mexican hospital was extorting this family continuing to ask for more and more money nearly nearly every hour to release him. >> they helped get baby back on the u.s. berth certificate and arrange for the family back to minneapolis. they are doing well. a close call caught on camera in southern california.

>> imagine being able to get from washington, d.c. to new york in under 30 minutes. elon musk claims he will make it happen. he tweeted that he has received verbal government approval for a hyper loop that includes a stop in philadelphia. he could break ground by the end of the year on the transportation system that would go in and under ground tunnel. right now it takes 3 hours to get from new york to washington, d.c. on the amtrak high speed line asell before acela. there was no prototype of the hyper loop and he never said who gave him approval in addition none of the additional states and city have signed off on it. a bit of a could go in the wheel there. >> reporter: what do you think that will cost, 15 bucks a ticket? >> after a construction it works on magnets so it's efficient. you have to build it.
